What Are Skylanders?
Skylanders are collectible character figures created for the Skylanders video game series. The figures are part of a toys-to-life gaming system, allowing physical characters to appear as playable characters within compatible Skylanders games. Each figure represents a character with its own appearance, abilities and gameplay features. Skylanders figures can also be collected and displayed independently of the games.
How Do Skylanders Figures Work?
Skylanders figures contain NFC technology that allows a compatible Portal of Power to recognise the character. When a supported figure is placed on the portal, the corresponding character can appear in the game. The portal connects to the gaming system and communicates with the figure. Compatibility depends on the figure, game, console and portal being used.
What Skylanders Games Are Available?
The main Skylanders games include Spyro's Adventure, Giants, Swap Force, Trap Team, SuperChargers and Imaginators. Each game introduces different characters, gameplay features and collectible figures. Some games also use additional accessories, such as traps, vehicles or creation crystals. Please check the individual product description to confirm which game or accessory you are purchasing.
Skylanders Elements and Character Types
Skylanders characters belong to different elemental groups, including Magic, Water, Tech, Fire, Earth, Life, Air, Undead, Light and Dark. Different games also introduce special character types, such as Giants, Swap Force characters, Trap Masters, SuperChargers and Senseis. Certain characters or abilities may be required to access specific areas or gameplay features. Not every character type is supported by every Skylanders game.
Skylanders Game and Portal Compatibility
Not all Skylanders figures, portals and accessories are compatible with every game or console. Many earlier figures can be used in later games, but newer characters generally cannot be used in games released before their introduction. Portal compatibility also varies between gaming systems and Skylanders titles. Some games require a specific portal or additional accessories. Please check the relevant compatibility information before purchasing.
Collecting Skylanders Figures
Skylanders figures can be collected by character, game series, element, variant or special edition. Some characters have multiple versions with different appearances or gameplay abilities. Collectors may also look for special releases, alternative colours, limited editions and complete character sets. Please review the individual product photographs and description to confirm the exact figure, version and condition before purchasing.
Product Condition and Important Information
Skylanders figures may be supplied in new or pre-owned condition. Pre-owned figures may contain previously saved character progress, upgrades or other game data. Packaging, accessories and cosmetic condition can vary between individual products. Unless specifically stated, figures are not guaranteed to include their original packaging, portal, game disc or additional accessories. Please check the individual listing for the exact contents and condition.
Please Review Before Purchasing
Please review the individual product description, photographs, condition details and compatibility information before completing your purchase. Ensure that the figure, game, portal or accessory is suitable for your intended console and Skylanders title. Some products require additional equipment that may be sold separately. Product-specific information and the relevant BK Shop compatibility guides take precedence over this general category guide.
